The use of fuel stabilizers is very popular among the small engine community. Especially for equipment that is used occasionally and/or has periods of inactivity.
These days, gasoline can become stale in a matter of weeks especially in a lower grade product. Stale gasoline is the source of numerous small engine issues including hard-starting, sticky fuel system parts and varnish build-up.
Use of fuel stabilizers significantly extend the shelf life of your gasoline. Some brands boast up to 2 years.
I reccommend use of a premium quality grade fuel and the use of fuel stabilizer in every tankful. This coupled with proper storage [winterizing] procedures greatly reduces costly repair bills from damage due to stale fuels.
